Physical Therapy in Wilmington, NC
For people who lift, run, and train. We find the root cause instead of treating the spot that hurts, and we build the plan around you. One hour, one on one, every time.
It starts with a short call, and the only thing Dr. Steve is deciding on that call is whether he can actually help you. If he cannot, he will tell you and point you somewhere that can.
Step one of two
Takes about a minute. Then a short call to make sure this is the right thing for you before you commit to anything.
If you have already tried to fix this
You already did the responsible thing. You went to physical therapy, you did the exercises, you rested it, you worked around it in the gym. Here is what you actually got.
The same sheet the person on the table next to you got, out of a drawer it has been sitting in for years.
In a room built to see two or three people an hour, with your insurance making the calls instead of a clinician.
No dosing, no progression, and no clear reason why any of it was chosen for you specifically.
None of that tells you anything about your body. It tells you what kind of room you were in. That is a different problem than being broken, and it has a different fix.
The difference
Most clinics treat the exact spot that hurts. That is why it keeps coming back every few months. Here is what happens instead when someone reads your whole body as one system.
If your low back hurts, we look at your hips and your upper back too, because they are connected. Physical therapists are trained to read movement as a whole system. That is not voodoo, that is anatomy. If your last therapist only looked at the part that hurt, pieces of the picture were missing.
It is called exercise prescription for a reason. Two hundred milligrams of an exercise and you feel nothing. A thousand and it wrecks you, and you swear off that movement forever. Your plan gets dosed for you, and it changes as you change. That is the part most practices get wrong.
Someone training for a marathon is not going to get better on a program written for someone whose goal is walking to the mailbox. Both people deserve real care. They do not need the same plan. Yours gets built around the thing you are trying to get back to.
The three stages
Your first visit is a full hour, in person. We watch how you actually move, go joint by joint, then put it on a whiteboard and map exactly what is holding you back and exactly how you get past it.
First we bring your symptoms down, so you are not making every decision around how much it hurts today.
Then we correct the actual root cause. This is where you get in the driver's seat, because what you do in the other 23 hours matters more than the one hour you are with us.
Then we build you back up until you are bulletproof and you can go do the thing that used to stop you, stronger than you were before it started.
Nice to meet you
I am Dr. Steve. I run Conquer Movement here in Wilmington, and I treat people who train, lift, run, and refuse to accept that they are broken.
Physical therapy is just our vehicle. What we actually do is show people that the baseline they were handed does not have to be accepted. Your doctor told you to never squat again. I would rather show you that you can squat heavier, longer, and more efficiently than you thought you could.
And I will tell you what this is really about. It was never about the deadlift. One patient told me the thing that mattered most was sitting with his mom, who was on hospice, through what turned out to be her last Thanksgiving, with no pain. That has nothing to do with lifting. That is the whole point.
It is also not just me. There are four Doctors of Physical Therapy here, and everybody in the building trains, so nobody is guessing about what it takes to get you back to the thing you love.
In their words
More than 350 reviews across Google and Facebook. Here are three of them.
"I can't recommend Conquer Movement enough! After spending year after year in traditional physical therapy since 2018 I felt like my movement and pain issues just couldn't be resolved. Dr. Eliza made it possible for me to get better and thrive again when it comes to being more active! Thank you!"
Sydney GroenendaalGoogle review"Conquer Movement has exceeded my expectations as usual, as head coach of the highest level of gymnastics offered here in Wilmington, I have spent years looking for a place that would treat the girls as athletes. I have been working closely with Conquer Movement for the last 18 months and 5 of my high-level athletes just finished a 12-week strength training class with them. Not only did they learn a lot about proper technique and form but they were challenged to try new things and push themselves, while simultaneously being constantly encouraged and supported throughout the workouts."
Taylor TownsendGoogle review"The best physical therapy practice I've been to. They offer therapy 1 on 1. They are not giving therapy to multiple patients at once. It's probably the cleanest office I've visited. Steve was my therapist. I got dry needling on my facial muscles. He was very skilled, professional, and easy to talk to and made sure I understood what he was going to address by explaining and showing me pictures. Really appreciate his expertise."
Susan JohnsonGoogle reviewOne more, and this one is Dr. Steve's to tell. A 53 year old man came in after five years of back pain with surgery on the table. He avoided the surgery. He moved his daughter into college without pain. Then, on his anniversary, he went horseback riding at the spot where he proposed to his wife.
That is the part nobody puts on a form. It was never really about the back.

We are not the cheap copay option and we are not going to pretend to be. Our care is an investment in a plan built specifically for you, and it is not billed through insurance. Dr. Steve tells you what that looks like on the first call, before you commit to anything, so nothing catches you off guard later.
